Started from abstract still-life painting, Yamada moved on to begin “Work” series in 1953, which later earned high praise for its carefully executed style of stripes or rectangles covering all the canvas. The series was terminated in 1995 and “Color” series started from 2001. Yamada produced nearly 5,000 works in his lifetime.
